Jay Middaugh has been making movies since he got strong enough to lift his father’s ten pound RCA VHS camcorder. His production company, Happy Kid Productions, has been making music videos, live concert films, comedic web series, documentary shorts, and commercial videos in Kingston for the past 10 years. In association with Skeleton Park Arts, Kingston Arts Council, Kingston Canadian Film Festival, and Cellar Door Theatre, Jay wrote, directed, and edited the acclaimed 2017 feature film LIVE in Kingston, a narrative comedy woven around live performances from twelve Kingston bands, filmed on location at twelve iconic Kingston music venues. The film showcased artists such as Sarah Harmer, PS I Love You, Miss Emily, Rueben DeGroot, and Justin Bird. Jay also runs the Sleeping Giant School of Music, teaching rock and roll to the next generation of great Kingston musicians.
